Bac Ninh's economy is maintaining a high growth pace: GRDP in the first nine months of 2026 is estimated to have increased by 11.81%, ranking fourth nationwide. Third-quarter growth reached 13.83%, well above the nine-month average, showing that the recovery and expansion of production are gathering strength.
Industry continues to lead
The industry and construction sector grew by 13.87%. The nine-month index of industrial production is estimated to have risen 20.16% year on year, concentrated in electronic components, semiconductors, processing and manufacturing. Industrial production value is estimated at VND 2.39 quadrillion, of which foreign-invested enterprises contributed more than VND 2.2 quadrillion, or about 92%.
Investment attraction and trade
In nine months, Bac Ninh attracted more than USD 18.74 billion in converted investment capital, up 22.5% year on year. The city licensed 264 new FDI projects and 171 domestic projects; 6,367 enterprises were newly established with total registered capital of VND 106.4 trillion. Seven industrial parks received investment policy approval and seven industrial clusters were newly established.
Total import-export turnover in nine months reached USD 177.8 billion, of which exports were USD 87.5 billion, up 30.53%, and imports USD 90.3 billion.
Public investment and budget revenue
By the end of September, Bac Ninh had disbursed VND 15.6 trillion of public investment capital, equal to 97.61% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister, leading the country continuously since early August. Nine-month budget revenue reached VND 70.4 trillion, or 97.4% of the annual estimate.

Issues to watch
Alongside these positive results, the city's economy still relies heavily on the FDI sector, runs a trade deficit of about USD 2.8 billion, shows uneven development across sectors, and faces site clearance obstacles in some key projects. To reach the 2026 growth target of 12.5% or higher, the fourth quarter must sustain a pace above the nine-month average.
